The Fine Arts & Design department (FAD) at the International University in Beirut offers two design Majors, Graphic and Interior. The department offers students an opportunity to be creative designers and active learners in the field of design and the visual arts as well as socially engaged individuals that will contribute in the betterment of their communities.

The faculty members at the FAD department consists of highly acclaimed artists and well established designers, they are highly cultured in their field and they are keen to encourage critical thinking and creative processes.

They encourage students to always question and never give up on change and innovation. The whole crew of the department works together in serving the overall mission of the university in providing education for all without any discrimination or prejudice and they all work on fulfilling the vision of its president in building a better future for the new generations.

Vision
The vision of The FAD department is to position itself and its graduates on the highest academic level of creativity and professional credibility. The department will continue its growth pace and continue enhancing its technical and academic capabilities to meet international accreditation.
The FAD department will strive to establish more links and relations with the market place and the industry in addition to local and international academic institutions to constantly enhance the curriculum, develop collaborations and increase opportunities for the students.

This is achieved through:

The school of Arts and Sciences (SoAS) at the Lebanese International University offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Graphic Design for students holders of Lebanese Baccalaureate or its equivalent. A Candidate for the BA program in Graphic Design, must complete a minimum of 99 credits for a period of 3 years.

The overall goal of the program is to prepare students for careers in graphic design, multi-media, web design, and advertising design through courses focusing on the development of concept and esthetics as well as technique and production. It will also sharpen students’ abilities in visual images, image-making techniques, and graphic techniques which communicate intended messages, moods, and concepts.

This program emphasizes all faces of the visual communication process, from thumbnail sketches to camera-ready mechanicals so as to meet the challenges of today’s marketplace needs. Concentration is given to Graphic Design latest software, webpage design, computer rendering and animation. The Graphic Design program at the FAD department leads, at the undergraduate level to a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA).

Opportunities
Graphic Design graduates are prepared to work in almost any field imaginable — from branding to illustration, packaging, character design, photographers, publishing, animation, web, teaching and more. Some open their own design studios, or work in branding agencies or pursue their Masters in Visual Communication.

The school of Arts and Sciences (SoAS) at the Lebanese International University offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Interior Design for students holders of Lebanese Baccalaureate or its equivalent. A Candidate for the BA program in Interior Design, must complete a minimum of 99 credits for a period of 3 years.

The professional interior designer is qualified by education, experience and examination to enhance the function and quality of interior spaces. The designer seeks to improve the quality of life, increase productivity, and protect the health, safety and welfare of the public. Students will gain a strong base of knowledge and skills in the understanding and application of the design process, space and application of lighting and color, study of the basic and creative arts and computer applications of interior design. The interior design program at the FAD department leads, at the undergraduate level to a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA).

Opportunities
Interior Design graduates are prepared to work in residential interiors or commercial or even large firms or small studios and more. Some open their own design studios, teach, design furniture, become sustainability specialists or pursue their Masters in Interior Design.
